The Toronto Professional Tower building was constructed in 1975, and a recent acquisition of the property has brought along a need to renovate and reimagine the original envelope of the building. Working with an integrated consultant team, the project ambition began with a modest upgrade to the performance and aesthetic of the building. The $16M renovation aims to replace the existing single pane glazing with substantially improved modern window framing and insulated glazing units. The main intervention on the existing architectural character of the facade, was provided by a monochromatic ombre gradient from a vapour permeable mineral stain on the existing precast concrete panels. Working with Ledcor Group as Construction Manager, major coordination was focused on the preparation and cleaning of the existing substrate, site logistics while maintaining building operation, and integration into the future master plan ambitions of the site, as each was critical to the success of the project planning and design.
