The Whitby Abilities Centre is designed with the main objective of being a global centre of excellence for providing recreational, athletic, and performance art facilities for people with varying degrees of abilities and mobility. The world-class barrier free complex was a key venue for the Toronto 2015 PanAm/ParaPanAm Games, and is now a legacy centre for local, national, and international sporting events. Designed with exposed structural steel members for the main field house, the building accents its accessible circulation on the exterior facades, revealing an open span indoor courts and tracks. Additionally the venue provides supplementary program for cultural and arts programs, supported by an integrated administration block for events and operational coordination.
